DVD Shrink

DVD Shrink is free software to backup DVD disks. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disk. DVDShrink does not burn DVDs. The output from DVD Shrink is saved as files on your hard drive. It contains built-In DVD-Ripping and it can burn to dvd if you have a software like Nero installed.

Most DVD titles are encrypted which prevents you from either copying them to your hard drive, or if you manage to do so, being able to play the resulting files. DVD Shrink overcomes this with built-in decryption algorithms.

DVD9s are too big to fit on a recordable DVD (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW).
So what DVD Shrink enables you to do is to selectively remove unwanted extras (FBI warnings, trailers, making-ofs,...), audio and/or subtitle tracks, thus progressively lowering the overal files size.
If they are still too big to fit on a DVD±R, you also have the option to apply different levels of compression to each part you decided to keep (even when you decided to keep them all).

DVD Shrink Features:

• "Full-Disk" mode: to backup the whole content of the original DVD.
• "Re-author" mode: to make "movie-only" backups, compilations, combine "flippers",....
• Audio/Video preview.
• "Start/End" function: to crop or cut parts of a title.
• "Deep analysis": to get great quality backups even when a fairly high level of compression is used.
• Removal of copy protection and "PUO" (Prohibited User Operations).
• DVD Shrink will enable you to make 1:1 (meaning identical) copies.
• Remove unwanted content.

Once DVD Shrink has done its job you will only need the burning software of your choice (like Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, RecordNow MAX,...), to write the files created by DVD Shrink to a recordable DVD.

* DVD Shrink has ceased development, and this means that there will be discs that it cannot support. There are now many types of discs designed with the intention of foiling software like DVD Shrink, but if you use DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypyter, most of these problems should go away (simple because DVD Decrypter's development is on-going, and so these problems can be corrected).
